Screenshot Reading
How AI chart screenshot analysis works
PriceLens AI can analyze an uploaded stock or ETF chart image and display an Elliott Wave interpretation over its visible price structure. Screenshot Reading shows the primary count, alternatives, and conditional price zones where the image supports them. It uses the supplied chart rather than fetching a fresh ticker forecast.
What should a chart screenshot include?
- Enough visible candles. Show the swings leading into the current structure. Cropping down to only the last few candles can remove the context needed to distinguish counts.
- Legible prices and dates. Keep the chart's price scale and time axis readable. Include the instrument and timeframe when visible.
- A clear candle plot. Avoid menus, order forms, or drawings that cover important highs and lows. Higher image clarity is more useful than decorative annotations.
- Only information you intend to upload. Remove account numbers, balances, positions, or other personal details, and use images you have the right to share.
In the app, select the screenshot input and choose the image. Analysis starts after ingestion and the completed result opens in Screenshot Reading. Screenshot credits and access depend on your plan.
What does PriceLens show on the image?
Completed pivot annotations stay on the detected candle plot. Active levels and possible future paths appear in added space to the right, separating the observed chart from the conditional projection. A tentative endpoint remains explicitly marked as tentative.
Expand the primary or an alternate count to inspect its overlay and legend. Compare the explanation with the visible candles and check any read price against the original scale. A confident-sounding explanation is not a substitute for that check.
Screenshot Reading is a separate result view. The Easy/Expert switch applies to generated market forecasts and does not convert an image into new live market data. Screenshot labels use neutral Minor notation unless a count is applied in Manual Mode with an explicit degree.
Can a screenshot provide a complete market forecast?
No. The image may omit earlier history, conceal exact prices, or be out of date. The model cannot infer missing candles reliably from a cropped chart. Treat ambiguous labels, overlapping indicators, and low-resolution images as reasons to verify or replace the input.
Screenshot output covers price structure. It does not add news, sentiment, fundamentals, valuation, or macro analysis. Use a fresh Automated Mode forecast when you want available ticker history and the contextual overlays included in your plan.
How is this different from asking a general AI assistant about a chart?
PriceLens provides a dedicated result with expandable count overlays, alternate interpretations, and saved screenshot analysis in the same workspace. That describes its workflow, not proof that its model is more accurate than ChatGPT, Claude, or another assistant. Any tool reading a chart image can misinterpret prices or structure.

Can I reopen the analysis without another credit?
Completed screenshot analyses are automatically saved in Saved Forecasts under the Screenshot timeframe and initially starred. Reopening a saved result restores its image and analysis without running a new screenshot analysis or spending another credit.
A saved image remains a record of the original chart. It does not update as prices move. Uploading another image for analysis is a new request.
